From Setback to Comeback

From Setback to Comeback

We’re reminded that progress is rarely linear and that stepping away doesn’t mean stepping out. Recently, we shine a spotlight on one of our returning Social Miners who embodies what it means to restart with purpose.

After taking time away due to life’s unexpected turns, he has re-emerged into the DAO Labs community with a powerful sense of direction, purpose, and creativity. In an open conversation, he shares the real story behind his pause, the lessons learned, and what fueled his return.

From Computer Science to Creative Soul

Behind the username is a multi-talented individual, Akuki Danjuma Samson, better known to us as Sir Ever. Graduate of Computer Science from the Federal University of Lafia, Nigeria. But Sir Ever’s passions reach far beyond code.

He’s a storyteller, a part-time blogger, and a musician who sings in his church choir and dreams of recording original songs. His creative spirit is unmistakable and it’s what he now brings back into Social Mining.

Why He Left (And Why He Never Meant To)

Life got hectic between school finals, a demanding job at a law firm, and a suspended X account, Sir Ever found himself forced into a break from the community. With no working account and minimal time, stepping back wasn’t a choice, it was survival.

“My return happened when I left for NYSC (National Youth Service). With a bit more free time on my hands and a strong dislike for idleness, I found myself thinking about Social Mining and realizing how I have so much missed such a BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY, I needed to find my way back, and just like that, HERE I AM. Josef shares.

Inactivity wasn’t in his nature, and he found himself drawn back to something he missed deeply: The DAO Labs community.

What He Values Now: The Power of Your Voice

Before his break, tweeting felt like an afterthought. But coming back with fresh eyes, Sir Ever now sees it differently.

“Looking back, I realize I took the value of making TWEETS for granted. At the time, I was mostly focused on completing tasks and didn’t pay much attention to tweeting or engaging actively on X.

Now, I’ve come to appreciate how powerful tweeting can be, not just for earning rewards but for building VISIBILITY, sharing ideas, and truly contributing to the COMMUNITY'S VOICE.”

With the DAO Labs team actively working on Social Mining V2 and fine-tuning the X integration, he returned just in time to be part of a bigger, better evolution.

A Creative Awakening

As a graphic designer, Sir Ever admits he once downplayed the importance of quality. But today, he holds himself to a higher standard, thanks to fellow talented miners who inspire him daily.

“ I used to downplay the importance of quality in my submissions. I often thought a quick tweak here and there was enough to get by.

But over time, I’ve come to see the real value of delivering HIGH-QUALITY work; not just for recognition, but for personal growth and building a solid creative reputation”, he shares

Being part of a community with talented designers like @Somto_jp , @GodwinEze6  and others has been a huge inspiration. They’ve set a standard that pushes me to do better, refine my craft, and truly take pride in what I create”.

Words to Fellow Miners Feeling Lost

For those who’ve drifted or feel stuck, Sir Ever has a clear message:

“"Setbacks DON'T define you, your DECISION to KEEP GOING does. Life can throw all sorts of challenges your way, and sometimes you’ll have to PAUSE, RESET, or even START OVER. That’s okay.”

He reminds us that restarting isn’t a weakness, it’s a sign of resilience. Whether you’ve paused due to burnout, life, or tech issues, the door is always open in this community.

“Sometimes, all it takes is one small step; ask for help, engage a little, and you’ll find your rhythm again.”

From Pause to Purpose

Sir Ever’s story is one of growth through grace, a reminder that the Social Mining journey isn’t about perfection, but persistence. His return has added another voice, another talent, and another heartbeat to the DAO Labs family.

We’re lucky to have him back!
